Dear Reader,
After a long day of meetings, decisions, and deliverables at work, you walk through your front door...
β
And your second job begins. π
β
As a former corporate gal and mom of two very active kids, I discovered something that was silently stealing my energy and affecting both my career growth and family happiness...
β
The invisible workload of being the family's
Chief Decision Officer.π€―
β
Did you know the average mom makes over 35,000 decisions per day?
β
Don't believe me? Think for a moment about how many of these questions have you already answered today? π
β
"Mom, where are my socks?"
"What's for dinner?"
"Do I have practice tonight?"
"Where's the permission slip?"
"Can you help me find my charger?"
"Did you wash my jersey?"
"Is there any snack food?"
"Where did you put my homework?"
"When are we leaving?"
"Did you see my water bottle?"
"What time is my appointment?"
"Do we have any clean towels?"
β
From what everyone should eat to which crisis to handle first, your brain never gets to rest from decision mode.
β
Each question seems small. But multiplied by dozens every day, this constant need for you to have all the answers creates an invisible mental load that's exhausting you. πβοΈ
β
β
This Invisible Workload costs you in real ways:
- Less focus at work πΌ
- Less patience with your family β€οΈ
- Harder to think about big goals π§©
- No energy left for things you enjoy β¨
We need to fix that!
That's why I'm bringing you this month's email theme:
Decision Detox - freeing you from always having all the answers.
When I tried my first decision detox, here's what happened:
- Morning rush cut by half
- Evening stress went way down π
- I did better work
- I had time to be creative and have fun again

πͺ Your Quick-Win Challenge: πͺ
Identify ONE daily decision you can eliminate. Maybe it's what to wear, what to make for dinner, or when to check email.
β
Create a simple system (I'll share mine below) and notice how it feels to reclaim that mental space.

My Simple System:
I created a 10-meal dinner rotation and pre-assigned each to specific days of the week for two weeks. The relief of never answering "what's for dinner tonight?" was immediate and surprising! π½οΈπ³
In the coming weeks, we'll look at areas where decision overload hits working moms hardest:
- Week 2: Meal planning that ends daily dinner stress π½οΈ
- Week 3: Creating home systems that cut down questions π
- Week 4: Smart tech that puts family tasks on autopilot βοΈ
- Week 5: Wardrobe plans that make mornings easier π
Remember, you didn't sign up to be the family answer machineβit just happened over time.
β
The good news? You can change this and get your brain back.
β
Here's to building a life where you're not drained by finding soccer cleats, but can focus on what truly matters to you.
β
With care,
Sandy
